U.S. Post Recent Free, No Need to Doubt Expired Food Consumption

Most people throw their food because it has exceeded its expiration date. And if the food is still in perfect condition, the food does not actually need to be removed and can still be consumed without hesitation.

Freedom of certain types of expired food consumption was listed in the latest guide to the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) United States (U.S.) as published news.com.au, Thursday (09/12/2013). According to the USDA, the expiration date is only a guide to quality. More than that, the product should be consumed when good condition.

Despite the stated expiration date was just a guide, but also reminded that not all foods can be consumed even though it looks fine in condition expired. Certain meat products, vegetables spinach or lettuce classified as a food product can not be consumed so missed the expiration date.

Vice President of Business Development U.S. Department of Agriculture National Food Laboratory Jena Roberts said that food security is not only seen on the expiration date. However, the expiration date was just used to guide and still have to be used. While spinach and pepper are the only foods that should be discarded because the heat will kill the pathogen bacteria content.

Unlike the meat, although still must use an expiration date, but if the quality is maintained frozen. But the food standards Australia-New Zealand prohibits the consumption of food that has passed its expiration date for health and safety reasons.

Cooking ingredients like spices, olive oil, vinegar, dried pasta, and sesame seeds are foods that are preserved in a long time. It's just that the quality will diminish over time.
